Startup to Scaleup Summit 2024 & Where Are You At On Your Journey?

In September, I had the privilege of attending the Startup to Scaleup Summit 2024, where I showcased The Founders Retreat and connected with an incredible network of founders, investors, and industry leaders.

The day was packed with keynote presentations, panel discussions, and countless opportunities to engage with like-minded entrepreneurs. It was a day full of connection, learning, and inspiration.

At The Founders Retreat exhibition booth, I introduced the “Scale with Flow” business assessment. Founders and CEOs answered nine key questions to determine which stage of the scale up journey their business is currently in. Through 1:1 conversations, we explored their unique business challenges and opportunities, diving deeper into the myths and truths at different stages of the journey.

Australia’s scale-up ecosystem has experienced a decade of organic growth. According to Mind the Bridge, 1,299 scale-ups raised $28.5 billion in funding by 2023. This remarkable statistic underscores the vibrant and rapidly evolving nature of Australia’s entrepreneurial landscape.

However, the scale-up phase comes with its own set of challenges, different from those faced during the startup phase. Founders looking to succeed in this phase must shift their approach—embracing more proactive strategies, implementing well-defined processes, and fostering a culture that grows beyond the founder’s original vision.

So what are the myths and truth on the scale up journey?

1.     The biggest myth among Founders and CEOs stuck in “Hit & Miss” mode is the belief that “I need to be on top of everything, or the business will fall apart.”

2.  The truth is: No Founder or CEO can scale a business alone. Those who embrace this mindset move into “Consistent Performance”… and beyond.

3.     The most successful Founders and CEOs never settle for “Good Enough.” Even when they reach “Accelerated Momentum”, they continue setting their sights on the next peak.

4.     Founders and CEOs who invest in themselves and their leadership set their egos aside, lead with clear vision, and create effortless alignment within their teams. They confidently delegate ownership, paving the way for “Exponential Results”. They are always a step ahead.

Where is your business right now?
